Hello! My first post here!

Hello all, I am Mac (aka "LuLu") and new here at StangMafia.com. I was invited to log in here by VaporDude this past weekend, while touring with him and others in the Lake of the Ozarks, MO. region.

I had a great time attending this event, it was really "choice" IMHO, and I met some very nice folks. Sorry, I can't remember all of your screen names, but I hope to improve with time.

Meanwhile, I offer you all a tidbit of 411 about the Mustang at large, and the SGT specifically. Maybe you GT 500 owners may benefit as well? Read here, but you will need a TeamShelby.com screen name to reply.

Hi Mac, it was great meeting you at the cruise. Yes there is a crazy rule here that you have to at least have 5 post to post links and pictures but that is to help with the scammers and spammers. That is one nice sounding car you have. I heard it really good following you on the way home. What kind of mufflers do you have on your car? I hope to see you at some more functions that come up.

I ordered two struts from Kiser Controls Co. @ 15.00 each. It will be two weeks before they arrive for testing, but I'll keep y'all up to date then. I expect them to be stiffer than the Scott Drake units.

Contact Maria Gonzales, she knows what this is about. I gave her the Scott Drake sample and she speced it out.

Well...I installed my Kiser replacement struts today, and I got a hood in my face again!

Yeah...In my face!

Seems this strut upgrade is more than it promised to be. One strut will hold the hood open, two struts will open it for you, once the secondary hood release is activated. Step back, or, get a hood in your face, somewhere around your chin.

BTW, these struts fit perfectly, and length can be adjusted if necessary. The cylinders are painted black, but I suspect they can be polished up to look even better than the SPP/Scott Drake brushed aluminum appearance.

As I suggested ^ there, IMHO, the SPP/Scott Drake struts are not defective, but merely inefficient in keeping the heavier SGT hood open. I have had the SGT scoop in my hands, and it does add additional weight (maybe 20 pounds?) to the hood, and in exactly the wrong place, the fulcrum of the "see-saw". No wonder it won't stay open?

Y'all with complaints of the SPP/Scott Drake kit not performing well are correct. But, I don't think it's defective parts. Rather, underpowered struts for the task. Should SPP/Scott Drake send you a replacement kit and it's not an improved version, you will still have problems.

I think my 30 bucks was well spent, just remember to stand back?

My mufflers are...NONE. Open pipe from the cats back.

I liked the sound of the SLP Loud-Mouths, but not the price, so, I went to a local Midas shop and they mandrel bent 2.5" OD exhaust pipe extensions to fit, and I added the Shelby 4" OD tips. 158 bucks, and I can restore the OEM SGT mufflers in an hour.

I will be up for any event youse guys and gals promote, I really had a good time in MO. Now that I'm retired, I'll go anywhere I can get to, but once the snow flies, LuLu takes a nap until spring.

I don't mind explaining.

"LuLu" (the real LuLu) was my very first girlfriend. Freshman in high school, and 15 years old, we both suffered through the difference between emotions and hormones. She was truely LuLu and she drove me crazy.

When I saw this 2007 SGT at the dealership, all those emotions and hormones came back, and I knew this car was going to drive me crazy again. It has...Thus she is "LuLu", all over again.
