problem with trans.

So one day i was driving and my car shifts into 3rd (auto trans). half way throw 3rd it kicks it self into N. Plus it takes alot to get it into 4th. I'll try to post a vid of what it is doing soon.

Do u guys know of anything that can cause that.

Note: car has 167k on it.

I'm not a transmission expert by any stretch but it seems to me your overdrive may be done. My guess is it's time for a rebuild.

Well it will engauge in city but sometimes not on highway. I just think its time to trade her in. I have had my eye on a 09 gt thats at the dealership but its black and thats not me.

167K I am not sure I would be complaining if it is all original LOL... and yes, time for a trade, but you best fix the trans first. better if you can drive a car in for trade in's LOL. Good luck

If my memory serves me right, I believe you are going into the military soon? I know where you can get a 05 V6 manual that the dealer has had for a while. They might be willing to deal. You might also be better off selling your car first by yourself and then getting one out right from the dealer.

yes i'm in the process of joining the military, but when i sign up there is a 4 month waiting period before i leave for basic. Plus i do know of a guy that wants my car. I have found a use 01 gt with low miles for $7000.

Ok i went to auto zone today and got some trans fix. I put it in th car and its running a little better but still sliping.

ok i took the car to the trans place and they look at. Well the took the pan off and they looked and it looked fine untill they looked in the pan. Burnt clutch. Has to be overhalled.

Did they quote you a price?

Might be easier to find a tranny out of a wrecked car or a used one from a parts place nearby, especially if you're going to sell it soon.

Ok i was going to get my trans rebuilt but i found a good used one for $400. To rebuild it was going to cost me $2k.



Plus I was wondering if there was anyone nere the Mid Missouri with a car lift that i can barrow for a little?

Make sure you flush out that new trans and a new filter before you go for a ride. You never know how it was treated and if the fluid was changed regularly. It might save you a lot of money and problems down the road.
