Suvey - Clutch & Tranny

Everyone please try not to go too far off topic on this one. I'm posting this for a friend that has a GT500 and is on his 3rd or 4th clutch/tranny with I think about 3500 miles on the car. He has lightly modded it but not near enough too cause these sorts of issues. He's becoming very frustrated with the car and is looking to see how many people have been able to get warranty coverage for the clutch tranny and if they have any mods. So far he has been able to get things under warranty but it just went out again today....Thanks for putting in your info here.

for the record i have some mods resulting in 784 rwhp and 703 torque on pump gas & torco - Snapped my axle at the drag strip 10/1/08 but still on the stock tranny/clutch/flywheel with no issues to date.

5900 miles now and no issues to speak of. Other than the fact that I'm still riding on a transmission that my a/c wouldn't let me replace ($$$):gu ns:

I am over 10K now and fairly heavy on the mods but still the original stock clutch and all (knock on wood)....not that kind of wood TG.

I've had a clutch and tranny replacement and then several months later a clutch and flywheel replacement.

The original was getting hard to shift in 1-2 and into reverse at times.

Having the second one done w/ the flywheel was because a Ford engineer said it was something you definitely wanted to have done.

My dealer was fine w/ the few mods I have done and has been no question, but....

My dealer is a small dealer and has done 3 GT500's (mine, Mastersmech's and Gr8snkbite's) so they have nicely told me to please do not send anymore warranty work their way because it doesn't look good on them.

If my car needed 3-4 clutches within 3500 miles I would think that perhaps the mechanic didn't know what he was doing or there is some other problem and would try to get Ford involved directly unless the car was unmoddable.

900 miles and no problems yet. From what I read, I know I'll encounter problems, however, is there a stable replacement in place, or is FORD still rolling the dice on the replacement?

Clutch problem? You mean there is a clutch problem?

My car was one of the early ones. I had only the clutch replaced the first time. When that one started to exhibit signs of the problem, both the clutch and tranny were replaced. The flywheel in mine has never been replaced.

I expect that I will be due to replace everything again in the not-to-distant future.

The last one Ford actually sent an Engineer from the top ranks to do the work himself. It has now gone again. Only mods I think are smaller upper and intake (with tune) and I think recently a lower pulley but that is in the last month. It sounds as if this one could get ugly.

I removed my FR CAI/tune prior to taking my car in for the tranny TSB; that's why I considered it "no mods". 445 miles since the TSB and all is well.

I am having my dealer ordering the TSB. When they get all the parts in, they will let me know and I'll take the car down to them to get it done.

Consider having a short-throw shifter installed at the same time. I just provided the FR shifter and my dealer did not charge me for installation. The FR shifter is a noticable improvement over the stock shifter.

1. Had tranny & clutch replaced with Evo Stage 1 and had 3.73 gears and FRPP shifter installed at same time.

2. Had tranny rebuilt, clutch and flywheel replaced with Evo Stage 4 installed on car.

Dealer never hesitated doing the work under warranty.

Clutch, flywheel, and new tranny....

while having TVS stage2 installed...he also put in the short throw while it was out..

didn't matter to him about mods. Knew the issue wasn't because of them.

1. Had a brand new Tranny and clutch and flywheel installed last Jan 16th 2008. I have sage 1 With the JLT CAI and Evo tune.

2. A couple months later the new upgraded flywheel came out so my dealer put it in my car with another new nickle hub clutch.

All under warranty.

My car shifts great.

I had the FRPP shifter put in later because I wanted to compare the car before and after on how it shifted.
