Hello Stang Mafia!

I would like to introduce myself here and stop in to say hello. I live in Connecticut and I own a 2007 Shelby GT, in white (see photo below). Some of you may know me from the Team Shelby site (Birdman does).



My Shelby GT is not my first Mustang. In 1974 I purchased a new Mustang II which I owned for 7 years! Besides the fact that it never idled smoothly, it was actually a good reliable car which carried me through college (at U of F) and into my early career.

I am not originally from CT. I was born in FL, then moved to GA, then to MD and eventually to CT. Yes, I know, the wrong direction! But, it was not my choice, but due to the job. Eventually we would like to move back to MD (Annapolis).

As for the Shelby GT, I fell in love with this car upon seeing it photo on the cover of Automobile Magazine when it first came out. Then during a visit to my local Ford dealer to have my '06 Expedition serviced, I spotted one in the showroom. My dealer, however, would not deal and insisted on a large ADM. So, I negotiated a good deal over the telephone w/ a dealer on Long Island, NY and went there to get the car. So far I have loved every minute of ownership.

I haven't modded the car at all really. I did get the Shelby "S" snake cap emblem for the rear cap, it has the GT500 mud guards and the improved hood scoop (installed by Tasca). The one thing I am most proud of is my Carrol Shelby autographed dash. I am planning some brake mods, however, in preparation for a track day at Summit Point, WV in October (Baer rotors, Hawk pads, s/s brake lines and hi-temp fluid). IF I could afford to do so, I would go for the Shelby GT/SC package.

I love cars and all forms of auto racing. More than anything these days I watch NASCAR (driver is Carl Edwards in the Roush Racing 99) and the Koni Challenge GS series where the Mustangs run. In other words, if there is a Ford racing in it then that interests me the most. I used to love IndyCar racing, but now they are all Hondas

One thing I love about CT is that Lime Rock Raceway is nearby. I go to every event there that I can manage to do. Coming up next is the ALMS race in mid-July. I just wish we had a dragway nearby.

Hsurb said it right, most of our top postwhores are at orfstock (a fellow family member threw a get together for the family near Pittsburgh) a d most of them are gonna be on the road home today. Welcome Ilmor. I think I've run across that other site you mentioned.

Keep your eyes out for the Orfstock 2010 thread. It will become an annual event. You can caravan over with George, Dan, Jaime, Jim, the BadFamily, among others.
