After driving Gr8SnkBite's car I realize I never want my car that loud. LOL
Now seeing KingCobra say his car is too loud w/ headers and high flow cats, I'm wondering if I want to put on the high flow cats? Is the main noise level from the high flow cats? the headers? or both? .

I always thought it is the mufflers that have the most influence over the exhaust volume.

Headers will add some noise of course but the stock cats act just like a muffler with regards to sound, very restrictive. Hi-flows open it up quite a bit enough to increase the sound substantially, with no cats it is quite loud indeed.

In the end, I agree, it is the mufflers. I think what TG was asking is, was it the headers or the cats that caused the most to the noise increase with the same mufflers.

Gr8snk has Corsa's on his car as I do, but his car is screaming loud w/ headers and hi-flows. If I put on my hi-flows I don't want it screaming loud. .

From what I have heard there is little difference between Hi Flow Cats and No Cats (Straight pipe), in terms of noise with a muffler fitment. Which is the same noise scenario for inline 4 cyl motorcycles.
Further, has anyone had an emissions test yet with Hi-Flow Cats installed? The information that I have up here (Toronto) for our emissions pass criteria, which is a lot less strict than the State of Califorina and some other US States, is that most Hi-Flow cats will fail so you might as well save a lot of money and run NO cats with a far cheaper, non-catted pipe and switch back to stock when you must have the test if you are going the free-flowing exhaust route. Comments, opinions?

So you think if I put on the high flow cats vs the stock cats it's going to be a lot louder? We don't have any sort of emission testing. .

tommy g when I installed high flow cats on my gt with the kooks headers it definitely got allot louder.....most of the volume came from the high glow cats and the headers seemed to effect the exhaust tone more

Okay, since I don't want my car a lot louder...
If i don't put on the high flow cats w/ my TVS, will I have to worry about burning up the factory cats as some have posted...or does that happen at a higher HP ? .

Birdman can advise better but it's in the tune.... High flow cats will help with your exhaust breathing allot better over our stock cats however they are not a necessity with a tvs install as long as the tune is set ip for stock cats so they don't melt

I guess I don't understand why that would burn up the stock cats. I have the TVS with stock cats...about 4k miles on the combo now with no issues yet.

If you do not have emissions testing in your state, you can save a lot of $$ and skip the Hi-Flow Cats option and just go with a straight pipe and muffler combo, but the car will get louder.

Even if it the TVS did melt the Cats which IMO is unlikely, it is a warranty issue as the TVS and related issues are covered by your warranty.

Best exhaust note i have had with many different set ups remains the ARH and high flow cats with the 3" magnaflow Catback set up. It was louder but not bad, deep and mean, and screamed when it was supposed to. I currently have a no cat set up with 3" back to some Bassani's It's OK - louder (no cats IMO is a lot louder). I liked everything about my magnaflows but just too loud and raspy with no cats. May go back to the mags if i out on the high flows again but i will put on electric cut outs too so i can run them open at the strip when or when i know i am getting into the higher boost levels.

Birdman said to go back to the FRPP tune, but I already paid to have a custom tune made. Just waiting to get the final set-up before giving him data-logging. Are you interested? I thought you had headers? These are for stock manifolds. .
