MagnaFlow 3" Cat back system

For those who have the 3" MagnaFlow cat back system...how do you like it ?
I'm looking to install a cat back system soon and am kinda favoring this system over the Corsas. MagnaFlow calims about 17Hp increase with this cat back. Both the MagnaFlow and the Corsas are constructed well, but
the 3" pipe on the MagnaFlow might be a better choice when it comes to flow. What do you all think ? Anything I'm missing with the Corsa Sports
vs the Corsa Touring. The touring is somewhat newer. Comments would be appreciated. Thanks

so does this connect to the stock x-pipe or does it connect to the cats thus replacing the x pipe with a straight pipe? I would be interested as well to anyone that has done this mod and its results, sound etc?

Yea Chef....good point; I didn't think of the connection upstream from the muffler. The over the axle tailpipes that come with the Magnaflow system need to connect to our stock pipes with the cats. I'll see if I can answer that.

the tailpipes are downsized at the top end for fitment to stock clamps...so it seems..

Birdman...from what I can tell, MagnaFlow sells the 5" round muffler and the oval muffler by themselves, but the pipe diameter is 2.5 on both of these.
$648 for either.
They do have the rounds that are 3", but I guess its only available as cat back system...3" axle back mufflers with over the axle tails as well ($861)

As long as the 3" cat back will hook up to the rest of the stock system upstream, it might be a nice addition to out GT500s.

I have noticed that Evo Stage 4 utilizes this exhaust set up as part of the stage 4 package. I been wanting to add Evo stage 3 in the near future..so with this cat back already in place, it might all work together quite well.

I have the Corsa Sport mated to FRPP shorty Headers and stock cats and mid pipes and I'm very happy with the sound and performance. Corsas are better made than the Magnaflows and you'll pay for it in the price. The Corsas also has the 4 inch tips so if you like the smaller circumference old school look they may not work for you.

The best feature of the corsa is the resonator they build into the exhaust which cancels out the drone around 60mph so use can cruise and piece but pass with an loud bark when you need to mow down some traffic.

I paid $700 for the Corsa Sports and that seemed to be the street price last spring.

Thanks but I have a complete 3" exhaust from the headers back . I was just looking for a quality 3" muffler with a nice sound. I actually prefer an oval type muffler for a quieter sound since I have high flow cats and LT's which make for a much louder exhaust note than the OEM system does.

The Corsa's have almost zero sound resonance inside the cabin, they sound good as well.

Thanks for the info JTB. I have always favored the Corsas, but wasn't sure if a 3" system would be better. Sometimes an increase of 1/2 " in pipe diameter
doesn't help the backpressure issue. One tries to find that balance of just the right amount of backpressure...not too much...but not too little.
Maybe I'll be better off with a 3" system if I had full length headers. Thats way off in the future. The shortys seem more attainable for me.
What do you know about the fairly new Corsa Touring axle back ?

The Touring was available when I got the Sport version in May 08 and the reason I went with the SPORT is it is a bit louder at idle and when you Stomp it and I preferred the round muffler shape as opposed to the oval of the Touring.
Both models have the noise canceling characteristics at cruising speed, so if that is what you are looking for you can't co wrong with either.

I am Italian for real....but my muscles aren't as big as Rockys.....

I kinda thought the Corsa round muffler would produce more sound than the larger(oval) touring. Your comment verifies my thoughts...Thanks.
Yea...I want as much punch( Rocky term) and performance as I can get from the Corsa...Everyone's comments have helped my decision..I think I'm going with the Corsa part 14311.

I put this system on with high flow cats and the long tubes from AR. This was far and away my favorite set up I have had to date on the car. The install is clean and the fit is fantastic on the Magnaflow set up. The sound was deep and mean but no droan and not overly loud at idle or just cruising. The looks and quality of the system is top notch. I took it off when I wnt t an off road X due to the level of boost I have currently. I was afraid these wuld be too loud with out the cats. I still have the cats (high flow X) and may put it back on and hope it works because I liked it so much. I don't think this is in the store but we can get it. I'll order mine though the BVM storee when the time comes.

I cut up the pipes from this system to make them fit some bassani's n the car now but the magnaflows looked better IMO.

Here is my car at the first shelbyfest with this set up - it is about 2:52 into it but you will hear the difference vs. any of the other cars....heads turn when you step into it.

Thanks for your comments iceman...I do like the MagnaFlow 3" system, but like yourself, I think this MagnaFlow system is better if one was to have the full length headers and hi-flow cats....like you do. Until I get full tube headers, I'll stick with the axle back...

You'll love the Corsa 14311's Andy.

The KR mufflers are a bit louder/raspy'er, but for all around good sound you can't beat the Corsa's IMO.
