Default Air Bag Warning Light Won't Go Out

I just noticed today that my air bag warning light on my instrument console is not going out. It flashes several times after start up and then stays steady. I have tried shutting the car off to see if it was just a temporary thing that might need a reset. That didn't fix it. Any ideas? Thanks.

Short of taking it in to the dealer, you could try disconnecting the battery for 30 seconds. You would have to re-enter all your radio presets and other preferences.

Sounds like a defective crash sensor.

Dealer.

Don't fux around with airbag functionality.

It will be a warranty repair.

Have you sent the Shelby in for the air bag recall ?

If so....just put some black tape over the light......
......just kidding !!

Let the experts check it out. The bags are testy.

Thanks guys. I had a feeling this was going to be a dealer fix. I don't know if my car had the airbag recall done, I bought the car March of last year and have never recieved anything in the mail. Do you think I should put my stock tune back in before going to a dealer?

From what I've heard, the air bag recall doesn't have anything to do with the location of the Custom Tune on the car's ECM, but if it were me, I'd return the car to stock just to be on the safe side.

Not having the airbag recall done won't cause your airbag light to come on. I have yet to have it done & my light hasn't come on.

There is a sensor on the top center of the radiator support under the plastic cover that your prop rod fits in. It may have come lose from you putting your new radiator or HE in. Check if it is tight. Easy to get to.

Try the battery dis connect also.

Undo it for 5-10 minutes.

The airbag recall was for the speed of the passenger air to deploy. The recall calibrates the airbag so it doesn't deploy as fast or as hard.

When did this TSB come out? I bought my car last March. If the dealer already performed this TSB, would they have put it in my paperwork? I will have to go back and double check. Would it be in the computer system maybe at the dealership? Thanks.

It's a recall that came out in March of 2008. Yes, they should have done it if it was out when you brought it in & it should be in the computer at your dealer.

Not only that, you can ask any dealer to do an OASIS lookup on your VIN and they can tell from that if it was done or not.

Just put some duct tape over it.

Seriously though, just take it to the dealer and have them scan the system. No biggie.

Well, today I finally had some time and access to tools to see if I could try to get my problem resolved. I unhooked the battery for a little over 10 miniutes and also checked that connection you were talking about TG. It seemed snug and I couldn't find any loose connections or compromised wires. I still have the warning light.

I guess I will need to take it to a dealership. I hate electronics.

That sucks.

Hopefully a quick computer check and it will be found.

Make sure to let them know about the tune if they have to put it on the computer so they don't change anything. And don't let them tell you it's not supposed to have a tune in it.

If they give you any mess tell them you have Mafia connections.
