I installed the Corbeau Harness Bar with Schroth Harnesses.
I bought everything from Brett at SoloRacer.com - Schroth Harness Belts, Corbeau Seats, G Force Helmets, Bell Helmets, Autocross Magnets, and other Autocross Products Great Guy. Here's a link to the Harnesses Schroth Profi II ASM FE Harness Belt Here's a link to the Harness Bar Mustang Harness Bar Here are some pics of my install. I will eventually put a full roll cage in the car but all things in due time. This will suffice for now. The Harness can be adapted to a race seat with a 5 or 6point sub seat connector at a later date and is street and FIA legal until 2013. Harness install was very smooth as was the seat install. For the driver right side lap belt I attached the belt to the torx bolt # 50 that currently holds the stock belt. Total install time, taking my time, was about 2 hours. Very smooth and simple mod for those that want harnesses but don't want to put the roll bar or even a race seat for that matter. The harnesses are ASM which stands for antisubmarining under the lap belts. Dactyl |

Are the harnesses connected directly to the bar or to the rear seat baby strap areas?
Does the rear bar come out easily to use the rear seat? I've been told to go w/ a 5 point so the lap belt doesn't work it's way into your stomach. .

I saw your last line, but didn't understand what you meant by sliding under your lap belt? Do you still use your factory lap belt when using this?

Spoke with Schroth today. The recommend that the harnesses be routed in between the head rest bars and not to the outside of them as shown in my photos.
Stay Safe. and OBTW, the car is ready for Daytona. It'll take some time to put up videos but I will try to update daily if and when I can. |

Van,
Do you ever plan on going to a race style seat? I was looking at the Ford Racing ones. I like the looks of them (made by SPARCO) and they have the Ford Racing logo on them (which is cool). They are not cheap however at MSRP of $1150. Of course, is anything associated with racing cheap? Here is the part# M-16620-R and the link in case anyone was interested: Ford Racing Performance Parts [M-16620-R]

I put my name and number down for one of those seats months ago. I've never gotten the call. I would love to have one. One problem with that type of seat and the street. Because of the side head bolsters for lateral head movement your car suddenly becomes track only and not streetable. This is what I was told by the guy at Wine Country Motorsports. They know quite a bit about seats. I was also considering a Cobra Sebring Seat. All things in due time. Seats, brakes, roll bar, pay for all this crap. Adios mio! |

Ah, I was wondering about the side head bolsters. I do like the seat, but no need to put something in that will make the car unstreetable. I hear ya on the all things in due time. So many mods and so little money. Mateo

Was the harness compulsory for Daytona or will they let stock DOT belts on the track on trackdays? Last edited by JTB; 01-06-2009 at 08:33 AM. |
