Default HID Fog Light Install

After some discussion today at the house with TG, it dawned on me that i never posted this. I do believe i posted on another site. But here goes...

Did the fog lite retrofit some time ago. Used the 1300 OPTILUX Fog lites with 8k HID bulbs. Fabrication parts for mounting were from home depot.
3/4" offset angle aluminum
Well nuts
Bolts/washers
Plumbers rubber drain reducer 3" to 2.5"

First i prepped the parts as so. The well nuts were used to fit into the existing holes of the fog lite socket of the clip. They had to be shaved down a bit to be used, then i pressed them in from the front.

Then i cut the aluminum angle to size, fitting inside the existing 1300 lamp bracket. Marked my holes for both the bracket and well nuts in the clip. Where i used the flathead scews, i made threads in the angle..no nuts needed.

Rubber reducer

I then cut the rubber reducer down to what was needed. I cut along the seam where the hose clamp rests. I then cut this section in half and taking out about 1/2" to form a good tight lip around the fog lamp lense. Then i cut an additonal section out on the face area. This leaves a nice clearance for the raised mount section in the clip where the well nuts are. After all was cut, i glued and taped the ends together.

Ballast mounted to the inside frame (same on both sides)

Light assy bolted in and wired.

Front finished look

Job complete

Fog lights Hella 1300 model were from autolights4less.com. Ran around $40.

H3 single beam conversion kit was from vvme.com. Just checked their site. Reduced to $40 from $109. I used 8k bulbs. They also sell replacement bulbs.

Three years now and no one has come out with a kit replacement for our fog lights to make to HID, let alone a good replacement for the 07 with out having to purchase the factory 08 fully assembly, and then try to figure out how to wire them in.

There is a HID conversion kit for the 07 GT500 Headlights. It is a whole lot cheaper than what the 08 HID headlights cost.

I know their has been no fog lights kit unless you use the hellas and convert them, the head lights we can change the bulb or their is stagmodes kit, but some were having issues with the dual bulbs and the wiring to make them work correctly

GR8,

Excellent "how to" thread and outcome. I would love to do this mod, but I'm wondering if it's a bit too involved.... Thanks again.
