...that's really pretty slick, gr8snkbite.

If I'm seeing the design right, the ferrules that mount to the hood ...when they're secured into the latches (hood closed), is each essentially flush to and 'in' the base latch mechanism such that the hood cannot move up or down at all? ...unlike the stock latch that prevents the hood from pulling up but still permits it to be pushed down (which the snubber/stops prevent). Is that how it's designed? Seems like a very secure solution assuming it doesn't get balky since I'd bet hood can easily thermally expand/contract by 1/16" under the right (wrong) conditions and there doesn't seem to be much tolerance for the pin and latch to allign -- am I seeing that right? Sure looks great!!! ... and might eliminate hood flutter too if it works like it seems.

Dan, you are correct. See the pic of the hood assy. I've added yellow arrows. The upper arrow shows where the pin area that seats at the top of the base mount. The lower arrow shows the area where the adj pin locks under the plunger in the base mount. The pin head is slightly larger then the shank it is screwed into. The diff in between is the spacing your adj using the o-rings as a guide. I have two o-rings in and they lock good. No upward or downward movement, plus prevents the downward movement at the oem latch. Not much of any margin to play with. This thing is designed for exact application, or else you won't open the hood. Thermal expansion/contraction is another issue, which i will see soon enough, along with flexing. I plan to update after that. But a very nice system nonetheless.

Thx Joe..we worked this for about 5 or 6 hours. Taking breaks, eating and a little chill time. At 11pm, i said enough. Today i only worked it for a few hours to get it right. But i still plan to go back after that pass side, and try some shims under it, so i can get it tightened up. its good now, but not 100%. It was a long day. Tomorrow is round one rotor day.

Thanks for that explanation, Keith ...that last pic shows eactly what I was unsure of ...yeah, not much room for error but really secures the hood!

Good job.....I think these are designed to be exact fit or no fit. That is what makes the hood keep from flexing and virbrating at higher speeds. After you get all the adjustments done, can you do a summary post?

Final Update.....

After three long weeks in the garage and much mod work, i finally got a chance to go joy riding today. Not so much joy but to bead in the new rotors. Well, i did the initial bead in, did some high speed stuff (not really, just 70-80), slowing, turning, etc. After getting home, first thing i did was pop the hood. Nope, that freakin pass side hung up again, and not only that, but the driver side did to, which i never had a problem with. Not happy. Off their comin. With the driving, thermal expansion, etc., they are just not for FG hoods imo. To much flexing, expansion, etc is all i can see causing it. Can't comment on CF hoods.

Yeah, that really sucks! You sure did everything you can, Keith, to make it work but can't have the thought of a potentially stuck hood hanging over your head all the time -- would drive me nuts too.
